About us
Psychosocial research reconsiders phenomena and concepts that are central to social scientific and humanities disciplines (such as power, ‘otherness’, violence, affect, aesthetics, memory, memorialisation, care, welfare and everyday learning) by unfolding their psychosocial constitution, offering new means of conceiving and investigating these phenomena empirically and theoretically.
Birkbeck has been at the forefront of psychosocial studies for more than 20 years, making disciplinary defining contributions in research, teaching and research training. Psychosocial researchers at Birkbeck have been integral to the formation of the field. The Centre for Psychosocial Research builds on this legacy, acting as a hub for discussion and engagement.
