Event report - Linking London HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting
The third and last HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting of the academic year chaired by James Ward (Acting Chair), Vice Principal for Higher Education at Morley College London was held on the 22 May 2025.

After a warm welcome and opening remarks from James Ward, the meeting began firstly hearing from Professor Elizabeth Cleaver, UVAC Associate and Chair of UVAC’s Higher Technical Qualifications Network who presented to the group the key findings and recommendations from the UVAC report ‘Beyond apprenticeships: decoding and progressing, technical education opportunities in England from Levels 2 to 5’.
A partner round table update then followed where partners could share any updates on HE in FE provision and related issues. Institutions shared updates on their HE provision, including curriculum developments, enrolment numbers and new partnerships.
After a comfort break, we then heard from Jitinder Hans Deputy Group Director: Higher Education, New City College who presented to the group NCC’s HE provision including their regional delivery model, strategic partnership with Bath Spa University, current challenges, future plans to expand foundation year pathways and enhance the student experience.
This was followed by a group discussion on the latest updates to the OfS E6 Condition particularly around the training to students before the August deadline.
Finally, Andrew Jones, Director, Linking London shared an overview of the key findings of Linking London’s latest mapping of level 4 and 5 Provision over 25 London FE Colleges, including comparisons with previous mapping of provision.
The date of the next HE in FE meeting will be in will be in the Autumn term, date and time TBC.
