Postgraduate Entry Requirements
- Birkbeck will consider applicants from Sweden holding a good Bachelor (Kandidatexamen (Bachelor’s degree), Yrkesexamen (professional Bachelor’s degree), or Magisterexamen (Master’s degree)). Traditionally, higher education institutions have often used a three-level scale: Pass with distinction (Väl godkänd), Pass (Godkänd) and Fail (Underkänd) or a two-level scale: Pass (Godkänd) and Fail (Underkänd). However, the grading system used will vary from institution to institution.
- All applications are considered on an individual basis and you may be admitted to a Master's programme with a lower-level degree if you have significant work experience relevant to the degree applied for.
- If you do not meet these criteria, you can apply for OnCampus' Master's Foundation programme, which is available for two- or three-term progression onto a wide range of Master’s degrees at Birkbeck.
- Swedish degree classification:
- Väl godkänd (with a minimum of 90 credits at VG) (alternative name: Pass with distinction; English translation or equivalent: 1st-2:1)
- Godkänd (with a minimum of 90 credits at G) (alternative name: Pass; English translation or equivalent: 2:1-2:2).
-
Research degrees Entry Requirements
- The usual entrance requirement for a research degree is a Master’s degree, Professional Master’s, a Magisterexamen or a Licentiatexamen from a recognised university; schools may accept students with high grades in the Bachelor’s (Kandidatexamen) degree.
- Applicants are strongly urged to contact potential supervisors within the department before submitting a research application.
