We work in a variety of different ways with a number of other institutions, local and national bodies, and interested communities.

CHINESE PARTNERSHIPS
- Our collaborative partnerships with the Beijing Institute of Technology and Beijing Forestry University involve visiting students taking modules and programmes in applied linguistics. These partnerships also include a reciprocal staff exchange.

BRILL PUBLISHERS AND LOPEZ-LI FILMMAKERS
- The State as Cultural Practice project, funded by the European Commission, involves comparative historical perspectives to investigate formal ‘state’ institutions and processes of institutionalisation in the Early Middle Ages.

- The MSc Psychodynamics of Human Development is run in collaboration with the British Psychotherapy Foundation.

INSTITUTE OF PSYCHOANALYSIS

MUSEUM OF LONDON
- In partnership with the Museum of London, the School of Historical Studies runs accredited modules within the History and Archaeology Certificate of Higher Education.

PARLIAMENTARY STUDIES
- The School of Social Sciences is part of a select group of universities who are part of an exciting politics module. Co-taught by members of the school and officials at Westminster in, the school jointly runs Parliamentary Studies with the Houses of Parliament. The course gives students a unique opportunity to explore and understand how Parliament operates with the help of Parliamentary officials themselves. Highlights have included talks from officials, a whole range of activities including mock select committees in class, and a Q and A with the Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow.

BIRKBECK INSTITUTE FOR THE STUDY OF ANTISEMITISM
- Internationally recognised for its innovative research and teaching on antisemitism, racialisation and religious intolerance. The Institute contributes to knowledge and understanding, policy formation and public debate. The Birkbeck Institute for the Study of Antisemitism is based at Birkbeck, University of London and is the only centre in the UK, and one of just two in Europe, whose mission it is to promote understanding of antisemitism.

THE RAPHAEL SAMUEL HISTORY CENTRE
- In April 2018, the Raphael Samuel History Centre was relaunched as a two-way partnership between the former Birkbeck Department of History, Classics and Archaeology and Queen Mary, University of London, and is supported by History Workshop Journal.
- The Raphael Samuel History Centre is devoted to encouraging the widest possible participation in historical study and debate. It is an outreach and research centre dedicated to exploring public, interdisciplinary, and experimental history across periods and regions. Named after the historian Raphael Samuel, it also maintains an interest in London history and history from below.
- Supported by a dynamic team of established and early-career historians, we run a large programme of activities designed to foster new approaches to understanding the past and we are committed to taking history into the wider community through our educational initiatives and public events. We work with universities, museums, libraries, schools, and organisations to create new forums for making history, learning, and discussing history.
