Climate Festival

Birkbeck runs an annual Climate Festival, which takes place around March every year. The Climate Festival runs across one week and includes various talks, lectures, workshops, and other activities, hosted by Birkbeck colleagues and external partners. Events are open to staff, students, alumni, and the public.

Birkbeck Research Centre for Environment and Sustainability

Birkbeck’s Research Centre for Environment and Sustainability runs events throughout the year, in collaboration with various academic and external partners, including an annual postgraduate research showcase in November highlighting research undertaken by both PhD and master's students. To hear about these events first, .
Follow us on LinkedIn for news of our own events and reposts of research activity by Birkbeck colleagues.

Networks and societies

Birkbeck’s Climate Action Network (CAN) has been running for several years and successfully campaigned for a fossil free Careers Service in 2022. Each year the network focuses on campaigns of interest to its members, including food/catering, green business travel and other net zero-related policies. More information can be found via the Students’ Union website and the Climate Action Network’s own website.

A new gardening society has been formed and has access to an allotment area on Torrington Square, just outside the Clore Management Building. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch via the Student Union: Join the Birkbeck Gardening Society
